Wednesdays in Jan/Feb --- 6 Week Intro Wheel Throwing Group Course
Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 9:00 pm, January 8th to February 12th with Amelie Drewitz
To understand the full ceramics journey from fresh clay to finished ware requires multiple studio sessions. Multi-week classes are the best way to learn about and experience all the stages of a pot’s life. This class series is designed with beginners in mind and offers an introduction to each step of the process.
Learn the basics of wheel throwing in this classically structured foundational course for beginners with no previous experience, as well as continuing students early in their journey with clay. After 6 weeks you will be able to prepare your clay, centre it on the wheel, and create basic forms like cups and bowls. Returning students will have the opportunity to sharpen and build upon existing skills. You will also learn how to make handles and trim and glaze your pieces using various glazing and surface decoration techniques.
✷ Small class size of 5 students per course means more hands-on instruction for you! (Many classes have 6-8+ students).
✷ Students have access to 2 hour drop-ins to practice skills during the course.
✷ Includes all supplies: firings, studio glazes (over 25 options), underglazes, use of tools and unlimited clay.
✷ Each student receives a studio guide book to borrow for the duration of the course, that includes infographics and step by step instructions to help remind you of the many steps (useful for drop-in practice sessions) and for studying outside of class.
✷ Age 16+ (please see our after school and teen specific programs, or book a private class for groups of 4+ kids).
All students are required to sign a liability waiver before the start of class.
✷ ✷ ✷
