Sunday afternoons in Jan/Feb --- 8 Week Intermediate Wheel Throwing Course (Copy)
Wednesday evenings 6:00 - 8:30 pm, June 25th - August 6th
Level 3 Intermediate Wheel Throwing
You can throw medium sized cylinders and bowls and are looking to further develop your skills and define your personal style.
This course will build on foundational wheel throwing techniques learned in introductory courses. At least 1 introductory course (ideally 2 or equivalent experience) along with further time spent practicing is required to take this course.
Students will start by refining their cylinder skills through exploring taller and more narrow forms, then move on to throwing large bowls, narrow neck bottles, vases, lidded forms, such as jars, and/or plates. Our instructor Amelie will take demonstration requests based on the group's preferences or special projects they might choose to work on (including tea pots or other special forms). Further exploration of more complex trimming and decoration techniques will also be covered throughout the course. Amelie will provide invaluable feedback that will help students achieve their pottery goals. Students will improve their precision both on and off the wheel, and finish the course with more confidence in their practice.
✷ Small class size of 6 students per course
✷ Students may access our studio during the course to practice skills, up to 2 hours per week (without instruction) for a low-cost.
✷ Includes all supplies: firings, studio glazes (over 30 options), underglazes, use of tools and unlimited clay.
✷ Age 16+ (please see our after school and teen specific programs, or book a private class for groups of 4+ kids).
